Founded in Freiburg in 2006, the ART SHOP and GALLERY BOLLHORST shows works of international artists in a permanent exhibition with a focus on figurative works, as well as selected works from the field of so-called Applied Arts.

Before 2020, the gallery positioned itself in the complex field of the discussion about the so-called applied and fine arts. The gallery strove to stimulate discourse on these arts rather than setting limits, and it simply asserted that judgement is always a matter of perception. The gallery displayed works from various fields of a substantial world of things: handcrafted, fancy, beautifully designed, of a good use, with a fine sense of humour, of incredible colour, a keen sense and lightness. 

Since 2020, the art store has focussed on figurative artists who work primarily with the materials ceramic, wood, and metal.

The art shop has been expanded in 2016 by a small coffee bar and meanwhile focuses on the photographs taken by Frederik Bollhorst himself.

On the homepage you will find a list of currently exhibiting artists, as well as an overall list until 2020.

The premises of the gallery are situated directly at the Schwabentor, in one of the most beautiful areas of the old city of Freiburg.
